Hearing Saver 3.1

You must open this app at least once after first installing or upgrading it in order for it to function properly.

I am currently unable to maintain this application as I no longer own an Android device for testing and the events I rely on to trigger the volume changes are not present in emulators. If you are interested in taking over maintenance, please contact me.

Hearing Saver provides a simple solution to avoid accidentally harming your ears when connecting or disconnecting your Android device's wired or Bluetooth headset. The app runs in the background autonomously to safeguard your ears. It consumes minimal resources and is designed to detect signals when your headset is plugged in or unplugged.

Following the initial setup, Hearing Saver should work seamlessly without requiring further input. Upon opening the app, you will encounter the Setup screen, which includes various controls allowing you to customize the operation of Hearing Saver:

• Media/Ringer Selector Buttons: These buttons enable you to choose what the two sliders, detailed below, should control. The Ringer radio button will be disabled if Ringer volume is not enabled.
• Plugged/Unplugged Sliders: These sliders dictate the volume settings when the headset is plugged in or unplugged, respectively. You can specify which volume these sliders alter by referring to the Radio buttons located at the top of the screen.
• Enable Ringer Volume Control Checkbox: By enabling this option, Hearing Saver can adjust your device's Ringer/Notification volume. This feature is disabled by default to prevent missed calls.
• Save Last Unplugged Volume Checkbox: If selected, this checkbox deactivates the bottom slider. Hearing Saver will remember the last manually set volume while the headset was unplugged and restore it upon unplugging the headset again.
• Bluetooth Detection: This feature, enabled by default, instructs Hearing Saver to adjust the volume when a Bluetooth audio device is connected or disconnected.

Known Issues:

• Bluetooth Disconnect Delay: There may be a prolonged delay in Bluetooth disconnection, which is beyond my control and stems from a delay in my code receiving the broadcast.
• Compatibility Issue with HTC Incredible: The app only functions properly on unplug with the HTC Incredible due to HTC's deviation from the standard method required for adjusting volume.
• Upgrade Stability: In some cases, upgrades may not execute correctly. If you encounter issues, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the app.
